Everything that exists leaves a trace, and she strives to express it. Light inscribes colors and forms into memory, and before those traces fade away, Jennifer Lee captures them with her brush, infusing each with emotion and story. Though moments may seem to vanish, the imprints they leave never fully disappear. By recalling those fragments and giving them new life on the canvas, she hopes that viewers will pause before her work and encounter the stories she wishes to share.

Guided by intuition and imagination, light is transformed into new forms at her fingertips as she blends colors and textures. This process goes beyond representation; it becomes an act of weaving memory and perception together, a pathway through which viewers may enter into her inner time. For her, art is a journey between memory and possibility. Through landscapes, still lifes, and abstractions, she has explored longing, turbulence, and the unseen dimensions of existence.
Recently, Lee has delved deeper into the diversity of light. By experimenting with special pigments that respond to ultraviolet (UV) rays, she has sought to move beyond the spectrum visible to the human eye. Inspired by other beings – such as birds and insects – that naturally perceive ultraviolet light, she has created works that reveal hidden colors and forms under UV illumination. These works invite viewers to step into a realm beyond human perception, opening the door to a new dimension of sensory experience.

Her exploration is not only about revealing the invisible. It extends to a meditation on the infinite possibilities of light and on its role as the very foundation of existence. Through her art, she strives to build narratives where light, memory, and emotion converge, and where viewers may discover moments of introspection and renewal. Ultimately, she hopes her work awakens something deeply buried within, resonating as both a personal and universal truth.

Lee majored in Industrial Design and is certified as a design practical teacher, art psychotherapist, and reading tutor. She has taught at a children’s art institute, managed it, and also worked as an after-school art teacher in a small countryside elementary school. Guided by her deep passion for art, she studied under Jinwoo Kim, and under his mentorship she has been developing her practice for more than ten years. It has been about nine years since she first began sharing her work with the world.

Her artistic journey began during the most painful period of her life. When her twin daughters were born, her eldest tragically passed away just ten months later. In that moment of devastation, she turned to art as a way to heal, recover, and regenerate her soul. Since then, creating art has been her inner therapy – a process that allows her to compress every experience – pain and joy, despair and hope – into each piece she makes.
Through this journey, she realized that the foundation of art is light. She believes that light is the very essence of human existence. Just as quantum mechanics suggests that observation defines reality, she sees both the creation and appreciation of art as acts of perceiving light. For her, we are all products of light.

At some point, she became determined to preserve the emotions she experiences in their pure form, without alteration. To honor that, she began documenting the feelings and thoughts connected to each work in short writings, ensuring they remain authentic even in the future.
Lee creates art based on personal inspiration. While her process constantly evolves, she refuses to confine herself to a single genre. Instead, she embraces freedom and experimentation, allowing each work to carry its own truth – shaped by light, memory, and emotion.
