The Memory of Blossoming - Jennifer Lee | Light, Memory, and Emotion

[The Memory of Blossoming]
Artist’s Note
To paint flowers,
I lifted my brush.
Yet the flowers that bloomed upon the circular canvas
gradually fell silent.
Like memories that had lost their light,
they quietly closed themselves.
I could not endure that silence.
So I boldly covered them with another color.
Perhaps what I was trying to erase
was not the flowers,
but the memories I wished to forget.
Within layers of paint,
the traces of those flowers slowly gathered
into the form of a crystal.
The time of broken petals,
the memory of vanished fragrance,
and the emotions that remained unseen
solidified once again within the prism.
Memory now speaks again,
holding the color of the sky.
The flowers that were covered
were not lost.
They bloomed once more.
On the canvas,
the flowers that were erased
have blossomed again
as crystals of memory.
